The original product was a rollout flower garden. The seed is surrounded by a biodegradable germination medium that has the ability to substantially increase the germination rate.

The Seed in a Blanket™ core product is a mat laid down in two layers sandwiching seed, an inert distribution medium, nutrients and a water retaining polymer, that is then sprayed with a resin, rolled flat and dried. It is sold through retail distribution such as The Home Depot.
