Creative Garden Concepts™ (“CGC”) is a division of Ultimark Products® (“UMP”). CGC is the manufacturing facility for the Seed in a Blanket® (“SIB”) product which is a seeded mat product that has been in the marketplace for 15 years. In 2003, CGC developed Seed in a Blanket™ Planting Squares, positioned as a germination-enhanced seed product that allows the avid gardener the ability to enjoy the benefits of enhanced germination and control flower placement. The company is now selling roll products under the Seed in a Blanket™ name through retail distribution such as The Home Depot.
The Seed in a Blanket™ core product is a mat laid down in two layers sandwiching seed, an inert distribution medium, nutrients and a water retaining polymer, that is then sprayed with a resin, rolled flat and dried.
The mat is comprised of wood mulch that is purchased from OEM suppliers to the Hydro-Mulch industry and is post processed at the CGC facility. Once the mat is laid down on the forming belt it is rolled flat and passes through a long drying oven. Upon exiting the oven the mat is either cut to different shapes or rolled full width into a paper label that will be saw cut into anywhere from 0 to 14 rolls of varying width (4’’ to 16”).
