In 1994, Creative Garden Concepts™ (“CGC”) a division of Ultimark Products™ (“UMP”) developed the Instant Flower Garden “IFG” product line for use on both DRTV and at QVC. The original product was a rollout flower garden. The seed is surrounded by a biodegradable germination medium that has the ability to substantially increase the germination rate. For over 12 years Creative enjoyed consistent year over year sales. The dependence on a primary distributor, QVC, backfired on the company in 2008 as QVC hit its own “glass ceiling”. Though the product was very successful, the Instant Flower Garden was developed as a promotional product for the ‘want-to-be’ gardener. The company is now selling Instant Flower Garden™ products through catalog distribution such as LTD Commodities and Miles Kimball/Walter Drake.
